Friday Favorite: Ceramic Flower Pitcher Giveaway

That's right - it is another giveaway this week. Check out this adorable ceramic flower pitcher! I know it has had a lot of admirers - and this week, it is up for grabs! It would be perfect displayed in a country kitchen, or with a table set for tea. But what would be more perfect for a flowered vase than flowers?

Maybe it could hold some beautiful daisies?
Dahlia's are a favorite of mine...

These tulips are OH SO LOVELY!

For me, fresh flowers do WONDERS for any space.

You will have TWO weeks to let me know what you would do with the pitcher. I've enjoyed every single comment so far, so please keep them coming!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The more I look at the dish/ashtray---and I can easily forget its original use---I can see it filled with glass ornaments on a table to add dazzle to the holiday decor. Or perhaps foil wrapped candies would find a home for the holidays. Either way it would be lovely on any table.

Thanks for helping us get into the holiday spirit Susan! Congratulations!

Friday Favorite: Ashes to Ashes Giveaway!

Here at Found, we have a number of items that were ashtrays at one point in time. We, however, like to get a bit creative and find other purposes for said items. This one, "Ashes to Ashes" is gorgeous in its leafy gold nature and is front and center for this week's GIVEAWAY! So, what would you do with it? We were thinking a spare change holder, a place for jewelry, a candy dish, a key holder, etc. Just like last week, we want to hear what you think. So leave your comment and next Friday I will generate a number and that person will be the new owner of "Ashes to Ashes."

I think this beautiful dish would fit in perfectly in most settings. I did pick a few favorites though that I have posted below. Enjoy browsing!

I look forward to hearing from you!

There's a cool 70s house on my old block in Dallas that I imagine has a sunken living room. I'd knock on their door and place it next to the sink in their guest bathroom.

Those lotus lamps remind me of the Artichoke Lamp. A friend of mine did a really cool reimagining of one with drywall.

So, congratulations to Jim, who will be receiving the lotus flower candle!

I have some good news for those of you who didn't win - we will continue our Friday Favorite: Giveaway Series through December! This is a great opportunity to win something for yourself or something to give as a gift during this Holiday Season!

Thank you again for participating and make sure to post your comment for the chance to win!

from keith haring to the slanket: a journey through my random thought process

today while at found, i decided to check in on my mother's class project (she is currently a student at ucla - holla!), a keith haring blog. i came across this photo of his 'tuttomondo' and found myself once again very excited not only by the work of art itself, but also the delightful apricot and lavender color combination.

i remember being quite taken by this very combo when the wearstler's bel air project was published some time ago.

cole and son has adapted the harmonious pairing for their orchid wallpaper,

but this bearded beauty shows that it abounds in real-life flowers, too.

as winter draws near, on this chilly day at the shop, i wouldn't mind wrapping myself in a lofty lavender cozy

and reclining on this apricot lady.

abstract love

I've been on the hunt for art.

I'm looking for something graphic, abstract and moody. A piece that makes the space.

Like so...

As I shop around, I keep coming back to these mid-century-esque abstracts. I wonder why? Perhaps I like inventing my own synopsis of whats happening on a canvas...yes, that must be it.

Tyler and I have named one of our treasures, 'A Landscape Perfect for your Cabin in Tahoe'.
And it certainly is.

It is what it looks like when the snow melts before things get pretty.

Maybe I am loving abstracts because of their perfect disheveled-ness. I love the juxtaposition of a composed and highly orchestrated room with the looseness that an abstract provides.

The photograph below illustrates this idea well. Why not pair a sixties abstract with an Hermes throw even if it is for your toddler son?

Oh, Kelly you tempt us so.

Or perhaps it is the interplay of color that keeps bringing me back to the abstract? Sometimes the color combos are almost nostalgic.

'Rainbow Sherbert on a Canvas' (image below) reminds me of warm summer nights when your behavior was good enough to be rewarded with a trip to Baskin Robbins.

Oh the good old days.

Or as this vignette starring Celerie Kemble shows us, everything is more perfect with that 'pop' of color positioned on the wall behind her.

Orange would be a great color on you, Celerie.

I also love how messy abstracts often have texture thats not so smooth. Our Bachman reminds me of what it would be like to walk on the moon.

I find abstracts almost always mimic nature. This fabulous living room (I've already expressed my love for this project) designed by Amy Lau is all about what is happening on the other side of those floor-to-ceiling windows. She did an excellent job at bridging the gap between the inside and out. The art above the fireplace plays an important part in this.

I can't think of a better piece to have installed.

I hate to say we have a look-alike here, but we do.
